How Pediatric Palliative Care Helps

The main goal of pediatric palliative care is quality of life, including relief from symptoms of physical and emotional illness and stress. Pediatric palliative care is appropriate for any child that has received a serious diagnosis or for whom the prognosis has become serious. The pediatric palliative care team works closely with caregivers to coordinate the child’s care and can act as a liaison between families and the broader care team (and, really, everyone involved in the illness journey), helping to ease the emotional and logistical burdens that caregivers often carry.
